Chocolate Cake Butterscotch Ice Cream

This smooth ice cream tastes great because it has both rich chocolate cake and sweet butterscotch in it. Great for when you want something sweet on a hot day

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crumbled chocolate cake
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips

Instructions:

Heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt should all be mixed together in a saucepan

Stir the mixture every so often while heating it over medium-low heat until the sugar melts and its hot but not boiling

Whisk egg yolks in a different bowl

Whisk the egg yolks all the time as you slowly pour a small amount of the hot cream mixture into them

Put the egg mixture back into the pan with the rest of the cream mixture

Stir the mixture all the time over medium heat until it gets thick enough to coat the back of a spoon

Now take it off the heat and mix in the vanilla extract

Allow to cool completely

After the mixture has cooled, use an ice cream maker according to the directions that came with it

Add the butterscotch chips and broken pieces of chocolate cake during the last few minutes of churning

After the ice cream has been churned, put it in a container and freeze it for at least 4 hours
